Less is More. That is the philosophy I am embracing this holiday season. Less shopping, less food, fewer parties and less stress.
After a busy fall, I am ready to do a little relaxing. I’m not going to make a turkey dinner this year. I’m serving a ham, a simple salad, some steamed vegetables and a premade rice dish. I love turkey, but this year, I simply don’t want to spend Christmas Eve stuffing, sauté and steaming sweet meats. In previous years, I have tried so hard to be joyful and spontaneous amidst the pressure of Christmas breakfast and Christmas dinner. This year I am taking the pressure right off in hopes that the kids will enjoy their toys and time with mom playing with their new things, and enjoying a family game or two. I have become abundantly clear on the fact that my kids eat a total of two bites of Christmas dinner; they are just too excited and exhausted to have an appetite. This year I am going to buy some really great Christmas crackers enjoy the party hats and lay off the perfect meal.
With the extra time, we may even have a chance to try their new toboggans in the snow. Shhh! No telling.
